When trying to detect another monitor, it doesn't pick up the iMac.ĭoes anyone have any input on how to possibly make this work? I searched the forums and the posts I found are all related to HDMI (and dated) whereas this is VGA. If you want your HDTV to play audio as well as video from your Mac, choose Apple menu. Go to AirPlay menu > Use AirPlay Display to > Select Extend Desktop. If you need to adjust the resolution on your TV, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Displays, then select Default for display to automatically use the best resolution, or select Scaled to manually select a resolution.

The iMac doesn't react to or do anything when I plug the opposite end to my HP, but the screen on the HP laptop widens then narrows, widens, then narrows back and forth. So I purchased that and when I got home, I plugged the VGA cable into the adapter and then in to the back of the iMac via one of the thunderbolt ports. I would like to set it up to use two monitors. I have it setup and it is working perfectly but only on one monitor.

So the hub and splitter were both being connected to a single USB-C port? I setup Microsoft's remote desktop client with my work PC using a mac. Depending on the year of the MacBook Air, it may only support one external display. So you have connected two external display to either a hub or an HDMI splitter.
